Painted Sideboard

Painted Sideboard

This sideboard came to us in great condition with just a small water mark on the top and a couple of small dents here and there. We worked with our customer to choose the perfect colour for their home, Farrow & Ball Stiffkey Blue in Estate Eggshell.

The first part of the process with to sand back the original varnish finish, paying attention to the water damaged area too. We then used sugar soack to clean away all the dirt. We also filled any dents with woodfiller and smoothed out.

To prapre the wood for painting we applied two coats of Farrow & Balls Dark Tones Primer Paint. F&B’s paint chart is really helpful at telling you which primer you should used based on your top colour coat!

After each coact of primer we gave the unit a gentle sand with a very fine grit, to help keep the surface as smooth as possible. We then applied about 3 coats of the chosen top colour Stiffkey Blue and finished with a coat of clear wax to protect and seal.

We really love how bold and warm this sideboard looks now and our customer was super happy with it too!
